Cap Is Back!

Weekly Features

That’s right, true believers! Captain America is back from the dead…sort of. Steve Rogers who got capped almost a year ago is still pushing up daisies, but someone very close to him is donning the red, white, and blue cowl. Way back when, Captain America had a side kick, a spunky little guy by the name of Bucky Barnes. Bucky is the perfect candidate because who knows Cap better than his faithful sidekick, right? Now, Bucky won’t be ingesting any of the super soldier serum to jack him up to Barry Bonds/Captain America proportions, but he is pretty ripped as it is. Also the new Cap will have the ability to bust a Cap - Captain America for the first time ever is going to have a gun. I’m not sure how I feel about that one… I liked the fact that all Cap needed was his shield and himself to kick major ass. A gun is kinda like giving a Midget an Uzi, it makes the playing field not so even anymore. The new, cap-blasting Cap made his debut yesterday in the pages of Captain America #34 and I am personally pumped to go pick this one up. I don’t really collect comics, but I have the Death of Captain America Director’s Edition, and I have plans on picking up this series to follow Bucky as Captain America and make sure he is still fighting the good fight.

  1. I’ve always liked CA. And when they killed him, I was really worked up. However, the past year without him, has been amazing. Easily one of the best things Marvel has going for it right now (the other would be Daredevil). The storylines have been so damn good. This past year of CA has been hands down the best. Not sure how I feel about the gun, either. I don’t want to turn this into the Punisher with a shield (although the Captain Punisher War Journal issues were pretty good).

  3. i will agree it is different without steven rogers as cap. but bucky i think will to do good. i believe the name needs to live on and oddly enough i just bought that issue today along with the last of the captain america the chosen series which i would say is a good read which is worth picking up.

  5. It’s cool, anyone with the name pocketwookie is cool with me. Also I was super pissed when they killed off Cap, because my first impression was that they killed off one of the only pop culture icons that really represented what america stood for. I was pissed, but then I got over it. It also irked me the whol Stephen Colbert getting the sheild and the big Marvel.com spoof on it. That was like them taking a collective dump on Cap’s grave. I like Stephen Colbert, but don’t do that, have some respect for an icon.
