Nintendo’s Game & Watch Modded into Game & Phone!

A Japanese modder took the whole “let’s make an emulator so that my cell phone can play retro games” to a whole new level. He incorporated an actual 1981 Game & Watch into his cell phone. I would like to have one of these very much, unfortunately it is a one off product. Best part about it, even though the game and watch is big and clunky he managed to make it look very sleek and stylish, perhaps sexy even. The article talks about how his mom bought him the 2 screen Donkey Kong one in NY and they left it on the plane on the flight back home, and how it crushed his childhood, so there is a good story behind this as well.
The Game & Watch is still fully functional, as is all of the cell phone features. The best part is the game that he used, was the Octopus game, a very very cool and fun game. I know it will never come to pass, but I would love to see Nintendo jump on the cell phone market and start releasing retro designed phones with old school handhelds built in. I would totally rock a GBA SP phone, or a Spinach green screen GB phone. Via [Gizmodo]

i would definitely prefer this over the crappy games my carrier provides… if i got one of these though, i’m sure i’d need an extra battery or two around at all times. ><

Yeah i would totally rock that. its a shame that the handheld / cell phone bread pretty much died with the n-gage i do hate to admit that but it was a great concept just excecuted poorly. Nokia wasnt really capable of it. Now if nintendo did it when they did im sure it would still be around. I would love for them to jump the cell phone business for that one reason my ds x cell phone combo. one phone to rule them all
